This is Wesley Fenza, co-host of The Mind Killer podcast. My co-hosts and I are aspiring rationalists. If you’re unfamiliar, the rationalist community is most closely associated with the writing of Eliezer Yudkowsky and his website Less Wrong. The title is a reference to this post. Aspiring rationalists attempt to base reasoning on Bayes’ Theorem, which involves thinking in probabilities and updating those probabilities when confronted with new evidence. Our thinking is best explained in The Sequences, though it is most entertainingly explained by Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality.
On The Mind Killer, my co-hosts and I discuss politics and current events every two weeks. We attempt to approach things as reasonably as possible, avoiding partisan talking points in favor of reality-based analysis (we do not always succeed), with a dose of happy news and strong opinions. This blog is a continuation of that effort. Expect to read takes on whatever is happening, with an attempt to cut through the usual bullshit.
